The mission of the Green Country Fire District is to provide protection of life, property, and the environment from the effects of fires, medical emergencies, and hazards. We engage the community in our mission through progressive community outreach. We will maintain a constant state of readiness to respond to all requests for services through training, maintenance of equipment, and a desire to serve our community.

As a chief of a volunteer fire department, I strive to make our department the best it can be, but it is a task that cannot be accomplished by any one person. It takes a family of firefighters to accomplish this task. Our personnel numbers are shrinking as our community population is steadily increasing.
I started this journey with a budget of $38,000. It was barely enough to keep apparatus fueled, outfitted and passing yearly testing. PPE was at least 20 years as well as our SCBA. Through many hours of hard work and with the community's support, we were able to convert Green Country to a Title 19 Fire District from a Title 18. Our annual budget increased 400% to $165,000 in 2021. We have since:
The point being, we can buy more apparatus and equipment now, but the one thing we cannot purchase is the hearts of people who want to volunteer to make their community a better and safer place. We all live in this community because we like country living if you will, freedoms not common to town, livestock, gardens, and doing are own thing. The only downside to our way of life is that we must provide safety and security for one another because our law enforcement is county, and our fire protection is now county. We usually don't have a deputy within 15 minutes and the fire department typically responds in 5 minutes. The difference being law enforcement is paid and on duty 24/7. The fire department is volunteer, on duty 24/7 and responding to over 300 calls per year. To keep us responding in reasonable time we must be staffed and well trained. We asked that you open your heart and become a solution to our problem.

Does your cellphone or watch have a fall detection feature that automatically calls for help? Check your settings to see if it does, and if so keep in mind that it may falsely detect a hard fall if dropped or hit against something. If it does be sure to notify us that you don't need our help, otherwise we will be there shortly.
